How people agree to Magpie texts

Last updated 2 October 2026

Magpie answers the phone for small businesses — trades, salons, jewelry stores — when they cannot pick up. Magpie texts only the business’s own owner and the people they name, and only after each person says yes.

Who runs Magpie

Magpie is a sole proprietorship. Its owner’s legal name, mailing address and email are on our contact page — write to that email with any question.

How a business owner, and the people they name, agree

When a business signs up — in person with us, or on our recorded setup call — the owner gives the mobile numbers that should receive notes about the business’s own calls, and is asked, out loud:

"Is it OK if Magpie texts your call notes and alerts to this number? How often depends on how many calls come in; message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to stop, or HELP for help."

Only a clear yes is recorded, with the date, the number and who agreed. Each person named is asked the same way. A business can run Magpie without texts; agreeing is never a condition of buying.

What the texts say

  • First text after agreeing: "Magpie: you’ll now get call notes for Bella Nails by text. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out."
  • A call note: "Magpie: Bella Nails — Sarah Kim wants a gel manicure Saturday after 2. Call back at (801) 555-0123. Reply STOP to opt out."
  • HELP: "Magpie call notes: help at callmagpie.com/talk. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out."

Never marketing. Reply STOP and texts to that number stop straight away. Mobile numbers and opt-in consent are never sold or shared with anyone for marketing — see our privacy policy and terms.
